Sep. 18, Thursday

  1. Introduction for SISUER.INFO & FINDINGCHINA.INFO.
  2. Team 1~5 review the translation work done by Team 6~11 and write down the refined version.
  3. Team 6~11: group discussion about “Stories Matter”, which includes: A) language difficulties; B) the points it makes; C) and your opinions.
  4. Teacher's opinion about the essay.

HW:

  1. Find a copy of China Daily of any date.
  2. Browse and locate one of your favorite news stories.
  3. Put the newspaper away and rewrite it in your own words.
  4. Review your work and publish it on SISUER.INFO.

3rd Week

Sep. 23, Tuesday

  1. News story editing: What is news? Audience-oriented news for a specific medium.
  2. Group discussion about potential visitors of the two websites(SISUER.INFO & FINDINGCHINA.INFO).
  3. Setup a checking list of at least 10 news websites for daily RSS reading.

HW:

  1. Familiar yourself with the RSS reading habit.

  1. Luisa's presentation: “China in an American's eyes”.
  2. Introduction to China-related reports and documentaries in English.

  1. Another reading about Narrative Journalism: Delving into Private Lives.
  2. Group translation of the sections of the essay.
